E cigarette: The Easy Way To Quit Part 11

Quitting With The E cigarette -  The Easy Way Part 11

stop smokingHello to all of my readers and to all of you who have recently quit smoking. Of course, hello as well to all non- smokers, current smokers and those of you who would like to quit smoking. It has been a couple of months since I last wrote about quitting smoking using the e cigarette and I thought it was time to bring everyone up to date on my status as a new non-smoker.

Things have been going well. I have not touched a tobacco cigarette in several months now and I owe that to my determination to quit in combination with the e cigarette. I have no doubt in my mind that I would not have been successful if it were not for the e cigarette. The e cigarette got me over all the rough patches as I quit smoking and I really believe that without the electronic cigarette, I would have given up and gone back to smoking tobacco cigarettes.

When last I wrote about quitting smoking, in part 10, I mentioned that I had stopped using the e cigarette completely. Since then, I have actually gone back to using it, albeit only occasionally. We all have times in our life when we are subjected to stress and I am not immune. Until recently, when I was stressed, I lit up a tobacco cigarette. Now, when I am stressed, I take out my trusty e cigarette and take two or three drags on it. I use the weakest strength nicotine cartridge and I estimate I use it about five times a week. From 3 packs a day for forty years to 15 drags per week on an e cigarette is quite a major improvement as far as I am concerned.

Like so many other things in life, like food and alcohol, if you overdo it, it can be bad for you and smoking was no exception. Unlike food however, smoking is not necessary to our survival and it has no redeeming features other than to satisfy our addiction to nicotine. Now, on the rare occasion when life gets to me, instead of lighting up a tobacco cigarette, I take out my trusty e cigarette. It helps me over the hump and unlike tobacco, it doesn’t have the potential to kill me. I like the improvement.

The bottom line is that the e cigarette worked for me

I am tobacco free and I intend to stay that way. When things get stressful and the urge to smoke hits me, I have an alternative to smoking a cigarette that really works. If you are thinking about quitting, no matter how many times you may have failed in the past, keep trying. Get an electronic cigarette and use it to quit smoking. I hope you will have as much success as I have had using the e cigarette. Just stay positive and don’t give up, smoke a puff from the e cigarette here and there and you’ll be fine!

E cigarettes Expensive and Dangerous?

E cigarettes – Expensive and Dangerous?

Aren’t we all fascinated when we hear that something is expensive and dangerous? We want to look closer to see exactly what the fuss is all about. Looking closer at an electronic cigarette, holding it in my hands and trying it out, puffing on it for a while, I was not convinced. It did not seem expensive and dangerous to me. But, then, neither did tobacco cigarettes back when I started smoking them. We’ll address the issue of expense later.

First Things First About E cigarettes

First, it must be said, an electronic cigarette does not produce smoke. It produces a form of water vapor, which includes a certain level of nicotine, or no nicotine at all. This means an electronic cigarette can be used successfully to diminish or stop smoking. The nicotine is provided in a liquid solution of water, propylene glycol and flavoring additives. Propylene glycol is a form of mineral oil, a common component in many food and beauty products having very low toxicity, categorized as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) and being completely biodegradable. The flavoring additives found in liquid solutions for use in electronic cigarette vaporizers may be either natural or artificial in origin.

Food-Grade Ingredients

So far, except for the nicotine, the other ingredients may be found in normal food people eat everyday. That is why I say that using an electronic cigarette does not seem dangerous to me. The subject of nicotine is very controversial at the moment. I am not taking sides on the safety of nicotine use, but I am concentrating on the fact that a smoker can, in fact, reduce nicotine consumption to zero by using an electronic cigarette, if that is his or her desire. Reduction in nicotine consumption cannot hurt anyone, therefore it is not dangerous.

The Cost of E cigarettes

Now we should consider the subject of cost. Purchase of a premium electronic cigarette represents a considerably higher initial investment than one pack of tobacco cigarettes, it’s true. But any genuine smoker will confirm that it’s not the upfront costs that matter really, it’s the long-term costs. A premium electronic cigarette is designed with rechargeable batteries and comes equipped with a battery charger for wall outlets and also for computer USB ports. A simple and perhaps unfair generalization would be that avid smokers who invest in an electronic cigarette unit and use it often, progressing to the point where they concoct their own liquid solutions to suit their own personal preferences will very likely save money over the course of time. A social “party smoker” who just smokes occasionally while holding a drink in her other hand will probably not save money over the cost of a pack of cigarettes purchased once in a while. That just makes sense. And a smoker who wants to stop smoking can use an electronic cigarette to move in the direction of quitting smoking, which is virtually priceless.

I’m looking at this electronic cigarette in my hand and thinking that it certainly does not appear to be expensive and dangerous to me.

Electronic Cigarettes What’s to love?

Electronic cigarettes although they haven’t been around very long, they have already caused controversy across the globe

electronic cigarettesElectronic Cigarettes were introduced in China in 2004 by Ruyan Group Holdings, also known as the Golden Dragon Group, the original electronic cigarette company which has prevailed in several international lawsuits since the introduction of their patented innovative ultrasonic atomizing technology. Ruyan means “almost like smoke” and indeed it is. Atomizing vaporizers create water vapor that simulates smoke, and offers numerous advantages over normal tobacco for dedicated smokers. Several other Chinese engineers followed up on inventor Hon Lik’s patent for Ruyan electronic cigarette company, and new innovations crop up constantly. Smokers love their habit, and fans of electronic cigarettes love their new, improved habit.

Smoke Or Vapor With Electronic Cigarettes

So, what’s to love about yet another electronic device to complicate our lives? Ask a fan of electronic cigarettes and you may get a long, passionate response, which starts with all the advantages of vaping. That’s what it’s called – vaping. It’s not smoke, it’s vapor, so it’s not called smoking, it’s called vaping. In actual use, each drag on the electronic cigarettes causes their atomizers to heat up a special liquid, creating steam or vapor. Atomizers operate on a rechargeable battery, a very small one, which means the unit requires frequent charging. But plugging in is not even a slight deterrent to passionate users of electronic cigarettes.

The Facts About Electronic Cigarettes

First of all, electronic cigarettes do not involve tobacco, which means none of the thousands of toxic substances inherent in tobacco smoke inhaled by traditional tobacco smokers are present. No actual smoke also means there is no second-hand smoke, so everybody in the car or in the room isn’t breathing toxic smoke either. Aficionados of electronic cigarettes will tell you that they are choosing their new habit or hobby because it is safer and healthier than regular cigarettes, for themselves and for others.

Second, electronic cigarettes vaporize a liquid composed primarily of five to ten ingredients generally recognized as safe for human consumption, which list may or may not include nicotine. In other words, users can purchase prepared liquids from an enormous menu selection of different nicotine concentrations, or no nicotine at all, flavored with almost anything, including tobacco, chocolate, coffee, strawberry and coconut. And that’s just for starters. If you think there are a lot of coffee flavors available these days, you haven’t seen anything until you’ve been exposed to the long list flavorings available for electronic cigarettes. It’s almost incomprehensible. So that means it’s possible to enjoy electronic cigarettes that actually taste good to you, while controlling, reducing or even eliminating your nicotine intake. Are you starting to see the draw?

Finally, it’s probably no surprise that the largest population of people using electronic cigarettes is over the age of forty. Smokers who are beginning to admit that tobacco smoke is taking a toll on their personal health as well as the health of others are more likely to get excited about choosing amongst the many brands of electronic cigarettes and the mind-boggling menu of liquid options. And they are more likely to make the initial investment of $50, a bare minimum for the unit itself, which doesn’t include a variety pack of flavored liquids. Part of the charm of electronic cigarettes is the reality of unlimited flavor options forever. Now, thanks to Ruyan, the original electronic cigarette company, and to new manufacturers introducing their own unique styles of electronic cigarettes, seasoned smokers can feel good making a healthier choice that tastes delightful.

Electronic Cigarettes – Whats The Draw?

Electronic Cigarettes, the Drawbacks, and the Pro’s And Everything Else!

electronic cigarettesHave you tried Electronic Cigarettes? Since 2004 “electronic cigarettes” have been on the market across the globe, starting in China where they were invented and released. The first ones looked just like regular cigarettes, and the original style is still popular, but as their fan club has grown, some models of electronic cigarettes have grown larger as well. Some of the newer models look more like fountain pens or tubes of mascara, being longer and much thicker than tobacco cigarettes.

Smoke Or Not Smoke?

So, what’s the draw with electronic cigarettes?

It’s two-fold, really. Electronic cigarettes do not involve tobacco or create smoke. They contain a liquid that is heated by a tiny electronic vaporizer, creating water vapor that has the appearance of smoke and provides a sense of satisfaction to those who smoke, all without the side-effects of tobacco. Electronic cigarettes contain a liquid that can be compounded to include varying levels of nicotine or none at all. In other words, users of e cigarettes can gradually decrease consumption of nicotine to cut back on smoking or to stop smoking entirely. Most electronic cigarette users choose them as a substitute for smoking tobacco. Avoiding harmful toxins and reducing dependency on tobacco is usually the first thing that attracts smokers to electronic cigarettes.

The Possibilities Of Flavor

But the reality is that users of electronic cigarettes get into their new habit/hobby and love it. The oral and tactile satisfaction is part of it of course, but the truth is that the e cigarette liquid comes in delicious flavors that are compounded to taste good, really good, so good that it’s exciting to try more and more of the thousands of flavors available. Electronic cigarettes look cool, and can they taste like tobacco, chocolate, coffee, coconut, melon, roast beef, whiskey or even breath freshener. The list of flavor options is virtually endless because e cigarette liquid can be manufactured in personalized custom combinations. Getting the familiar satisfaction with fun and flavor is what keeps users of electronic cigarettes coming back for more. Oh, and now cigar users and pipe smokers have their own electronic options as well.

It’s not called smoking, it’s called vaping. That’s right, since there’s no smoke the users of e cigarettes are not smokers, they are vapers. Anyone for an electronic cigarettes after-dinner vape?

Quitting Smoking Try Try Again

Quitting smoking is a difficult and frustrating endeavor

quitting smokingI have been trying for years to finally give up my smoking habit. I am fully aware of just how dangerous smoking is for me and I have no desire to die from a heart attack or gasping for breath in the final stages of lung cancer. Yet I continued to smoke and I continued to fail at quitting.

Recently I came across the electronic cigarette, which is getting a good deal of press as an effective way of quitting smoking device. The electronic or smokeless cigarette contains no tobacco and nothing is ignited or burned. This means no carcinogens are produced when using the electronic cigarette. The device allows the user to get a small amount of nicotine with every drag and even creates an inhale-able vapor to simulate the smoke from a tobacco cigarette. No other device on the market so closely mimics a real cigarette while providing the nicotine a smoker craves without any added cancer causing chemicals.

When I first got my electronic cigarette I tried using it as if it were a real tobacco cigarette. In other words, I tried to approximate how many tobacco cigarettes I was smoking daily and using my smokeless cigarette in a similar way. This just didn’t work for me. I found that I was overusing the electronic cigarette and I was taking in more nicotine than I needed. This had the effect of making me dizzy and actually made me crave a tobacco cigarette more than if I just went cold turkey. It also made me feel uncomfortable and dehydrated.

Rather than give up and go back to smoking tobacco, I decided to improvise a bit and try quitting smoking again!

Now I only use my electronic cigarette when I feel myself ready to get up and go searching for a tobacco cigarette, its really great for quitting smoking. When this happens, I take two or three drags on my smokeless cigarette and go back to what I was doing before the urge to smoke struck me. This method is much more effective for me and after several weeks of using my electronic cigarette in this manner, I am still tobacco free. It works well for me without any of the side effects I was having when I overused the smokeless cigarette.

The bottom line is not to give. Keep trying until you find something that works for you. In my case using the smokeless cigarette in a more limited manner was just what I needed to stop smoking tobacco. If you are a smoker, I strongly suggest trying the electronic cigarette to quit smoking. Just put aside any per-conceived notions and do what works best for you. For me, when I tried to use the electronic cigarette as a 1 to 1 replacement for 2 packs a day of tobacco cigarettes, I ended getting a lot more nicotine than I needed and some unpleasant side effects. So I adapted and improvised and tried again. I didn’t give up and I found success at quitting smoking.

Electronic Cigarettes Are The Answer!

The Time Has Come To Quit Smoking And Electronic Cigarette Will Help

electronic cigarettesLet me be blunt; smoking scares the hell out of me. Yet, foolish as I am, I smoke two to three packs a day and have done so for 45 years. Now I am 60 years old and I am finally starting to feel the effects of a lifetime of smoking. I no longer just think about what cigarettes may be doing to me but every time I walk the half a mile to the store and back to buy more cigarettes, I feel winded and tired. By the time I am half way home on the return trip, I am short of breath and wishing I could call a taxi. This is no way to live and its time to find a solution. No one should end a long pleasant life, gasping for breath and dying painfully of cancer or heart disease while wasting away alone in a hospital bed. It just is not what I want for myself or for anyone reading this.

So, what is the solution. We all know how addictive cigarettes are and how difficult it is to quit. I have tried to quit dozens of times over the last 45 years and the longest I ever went without smoking was six weeks. I have quit cold turkey, I have tried prescription pills and I have tried nicotine patches. Cold turkey is miserable and I am not a fan of pills or patches. At the same time, every time I light a cigarette, my first thought is literally,” OK stupid, You are putting another nail in your coffin. Go ahead and smoke.” and of course, I do. With gusto and often.

The answer came to me recently when I was walking through the local shopping mall. I was looking for the exit so I could go outside and smoke, when I passed a kiosk selling the electronic cigarette. Intrigued, I stopped and asked the salesman what it was all about. He explained to me that the electronic or smokeless cigarette was a smoke free device that allowed the user to get the nicotine they craved without burning anything or creating any carcinogens. It simulates smoking right down to providing the user with an inhale-able vapor that contains a small, measured dose of nicotine in every drag. The vapor fills the users lungs just like the smoke from a cigarette. All this occurs without the risks of smoking tobacco cigarettes and even skeptics are starting to tout the electronic cigarette as an effective quit smoking device.

The salesman allowed me to try one of the electronic cigarettes by putting a disposable, unused sheath over the filter end

I must say I thought I was smoking a real cigarette. I got a deep drag and when I exhaled, I was amazed by the volume of vapor that came out. It was almost the same as smoking a real cigarette and all without the cancer causing chemicals. This was so satisfying and welcome to me that I instantly bought a starter kit and a months supply of replacement nicotine cartridges.

I have been using electronic cigarettes for three weeks now and while I will admit it has taken a certain amount of willpower and dedication to resist the temptation to smoke a tobacco cigarette, I have stuck to the plan. When I go back to the kiosk to buy a new supply of nicotine cartridges in a few days, I will be getting a cartridge that has half the nicotine per drag. This will allow me to slowly wean myself off of my addiction to nicotine and I can proceed at my own pace. Best of all, not only am I feeling much healthier but I am paying about 60% less than I used to pay for tobacco cigarettes. The electronic cigarette is one great idea I wish I had found years sooner.
